The two actually went to the same high school. They knew of each other back then, passing through the same hallways and existing within the same circles of familiarity. Yet their lives never truly intersected in a meaningful way. They were simply two people who were aware of each other… nothing more.

Or so they thought.

As a Puerto Rico proposal photographer, my role was to quietly document the moment as it unfolded in real time. Proposals are one of the most exciting forms of storytelling in photography because they are completely unscripted. There is no rehearsal. No second take. Only a genuine moment filled with anticipation, nerves, excitement, and overwhelming emotion.

When Ramón finally dropped to one knee, the ocean behind him and the sand beneath his feet, Brit’s reaction said everything.

The surprise, the joy, the laughter, and the tears were all there.
